In Somalia, the Kenyan military has begun bombing positions held by the militant group Al-Shabab. The bombing campaign comes less than a week after the terrorist group attacked Kenya's Garissa University and left nearly 150 people dead.
It's unclear if today's bombing campaign is a direct response to those attacks—Kenyan bombing campaigns against Al-Shabab are routine.
On Sunday, one of the gunmen involved in the Garissa University attack was identified as the son of a Kenyan government official. Al-Shabab says they are at war with Kenya, but the leadership within Kenya has vowed to fight back.
